The “Game of Thrones” television adaptations of George RR Martin’s “A Song of Fire and Ice” book series has been one of the more unlikely hits for HBO in recent years. It was certainly a gamble on HBO’s part to commit to adapting an as-yet-unfinished book series that would contain R-rated material. While casual fantasy fans might mistaken the work as being an ‘adult’ version of “Lord of the Rings,” viewers have seen through such comparisons and the work has found a vibrant following of its own.
