Kind of an eventful day. I got to listen to a campaign speech from Republican hopeful George W. Bush speak today in Decorah.
As the crowd thinned out, I stuck around for a few minutes to shake his hand. It was an odd experience, as he approached me in a very intimately robotic way. He seemed so eager and his eyes sort of sparked with neediness. Like a kid just wanting to be liked by everyone. While in mid-shake, he thanked me for coming and said “I hope that you vote for me.”
Despite what his biography claims, he’s actually not very tall.
